Paediatric Dentistry

Paediatric Dentistry

Studies have shown that it is important to take your child to the dentist from an early age, even just for a check-up, so that they have a positive experience and grow up without being afraid of the dentist.

Fluoride applications are a safe and effective way to protect your growing child’s teeth and help prevent tooth decay. The fluoride is spread over the surface of the child’s teeth, mineralising them.

Sealants are applied to the biting surfaces of children’s teeth to prevent decay by stopping bacteria from entering the grooves of the tooth. The technique is extremely easy to carry out, quick and completely painless.

Taking your child to the dentist from an early age also allows the dentist to identify the first signs of problems, such as crossbites, or simply to monitor development. As with most things, the sooner a problem is addressed, the more quickly it can be resolved.

WHEN TO SEE A PAEDIATRIC DENTIST

The dentists at our practice in Milan specialise in paediatric dentistry and orthodontics.

Your child can have their first visit with a paediatric dentist between 6 months and 1 year of age, once the milk teeth have come through.

Milk (primary) teeth are considered very important:

  • They keep the space needed for the permanent teeth to erupt
  • They help the permanent teeth erupt in a straight line.
  • They help children speak clearly and chew correctly and naturally.
