Lingual orthodontics

Lingual orthodontics is the correction of misaligned teeth using a fixed brace that is invisible because it is bonded to the inner (lingual) surface of the teeth. It works like a conventional fixed orthodontic brace (bonded to the outer surface of the teeth), with complete control and movement of the teeth: the only person who knows you are wearing a brace is you.

What Is Lingual Orthodontics

Today, the great merit of lingual orthodontics is that nobody can tell the patient is undergoing orthodontic treatment; patients can continue their normal lifestyle while wearing a brace that, with complete discretion, corrects their teeth and improves their smile. Patients today want well-aligned teeth at the end of orthodontic treatment, but they also want to be able to smile during treatment without showing the bulk of a conventional orthodontic brace, whether with metal or clear brackets. Lingual orthodontics can be for everyone, as long as your teeth and gums are in good health.

With a lingual brace, whether you are an adult or a teenager, there are personalised solutions for individual problems. Win is a custom-designed lingual brace that can adapt to individual needs, creating successful smiles without compromise.

Frequently asked questions - FAQ

Adults tend to think “it’s too late for me”, but this is just a common misconception: there is no age limit for an orthodontic brace, provided that the supporting tissues of the teeth are healthy and the teeth are firmly anchored in the bone.

The invisible lingual brace can be fitted at any age, provided that the permanent teeth, rather than the milk teeth, are present in the mouth. It is also useful for teenagers, who are often “reluctant” to have conventional treatment because of how it looks.
Lingual braces and clear aligners appeal to anyone who wants to straighten their teeth and is looking for an “invisible solution”; however, many cases are not suitable for aligners because they require a high level of 3D (three-dimensional) control of tooth movement that only a fixed brace such as a lingual brace can provide. A lingual brace also allows greater predictability of results because it does not depend on the cooperation of the patient, who would otherwise have to wear the aligners used in this technique 24 hours a day. With a lingual brace you will see your smile transform while we invisibly control your treatment, and you will no longer have to remember to wear your aligners and/or worry about losing them, which would interrupt or slow down the progress of treatment.
The advantages are not only aesthetic but also concern dental health: the brackets are bonded to the inner surface of the teeth, where the enamel is thicker and more resistant to decalcification and decay. In some cases these processes can stain the teeth at the end of conventional treatment with brackets bonded to the outside of the teeth; should this happen with a lingual brace, the internal position would allow a less painful restoration in terms of the aesthetic integrity of the affected tooth.
